Multi-instrumentalist LaBruta is the latest musical insanity by Elisa Abela, a
born and raised in Catania’s urban jungle. Self-taught artist, she starts playing the electric guitar, the soprano saxophone, drums and sinths with a personal approach towards experimentation which goes beyond any academic rules.
Her talent was soon discovered by Joe Lally (Fugazy) with whom she works from 2008 to the release of the album Why Should I Get Used To It (Dischord, 2010). With Lally she then starts touring Europe (Spain, England, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, France), U.S., Japan, Brazil and Argentina.
In 2009 she formed the band Danso Key with songwriter Eli Natali, in 2013 they released the album Golpe (Viceversa). With Natali she then starts an electro-industrial project, Cometomama, realesing a first album, For Cats and Dogs (Doremillaro, 2010). In the same year they form an electronic music quartet Urinate, releasing an experimental album which was acquired by the RAM (Radio - Arte – Mobile) Museum’s archives. In 2012 Abela and Natali continue experiment creativity founding Female Trouble band, a desperate queer rock’n’roll quartet. In 2015 they release their first Ep Pop up Rock’n’roll (Goodfellas).
In 2013 Abela also plays as former guitarist for the band Primati (Brutopop, Assalti Frontali), in 2014 they release the album Degenerate Party (Goodfellas, 2014).
In the same year she joins Tiedbelly, playing floor tom for the country blues R’n’R guitar player from Rome.
From 2016 Abela plays drums for the R’n’R Band Made of Sand, founded by Silvio Grillandi (Brutopop, Assalti Frontali).
In 2017 she starts an electro-industrial solo project Torturette, releasing the album Singin’Alone in 2017 and the single Dance Inferno (limited edition vinyl) in 2018, both for Musichette Records.
In her last project, LaBruta One Woman Band, she plays a very WILD dirty lonesome R’n’R .
