"This ain’t no 80's retro party"

Shortly after recording their debut album - the raw and homemade “Knock-Offs, Rip-Offs and Jerk-Offs” (2018), Credit Card Fraud (CCF) had a chance to record their material again. This time, it was in front of a live audience somewhere in early December, 2018. The gig was supposed to be 2 hours. It featured an opening act followed by CCF which was scheduled to perform two sets of original material, including a few uncharacteristic covers. The ambitious but ill-conceived gig was at a house party located in a quiet suburban neighbourhood in “friendly” North Vancouver.

After the opening act, CCF started into their first set. Playing to an excited and energetic crowd they rocketed into the quiet night with furious, warp-speed versions of songs like “Just Another Lefty” and “Stimulated Aggression.” As the set progressed, the band played songs from their upcoming album “A Few Anxious Moments” (2019). However, just following their blistering take on Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” the party organizers were notified that the neighbours had called the cops. The neighbours thought CCF was gonna bring down anarchy on to their staid little middle-class community. After only 9 ripping songs the local law enforcement broke in and pulled the plug. - Any hope of a little late night north shore fun was quashed.

As you will hear, the show was no 80’s retro party. It contains some of the best of Credit Card Fraud in a phase where they were developing their sound from their crazed debut album to now, where they are playing more intense than ever. Even if it is too brief, the urgency and the energy of this live album will inspire. You are left to wonder what would have happened If the cops never came to shut it all down.
